Daly Dose 07-22-20 Our questions for the restart of the NBA season

This week on the Daly Dose, it is National Hot Dog Day, and we discuss that staple of American sports concession stands!

A major sports story took place last week, but most of the media tended to ignore it. Major League Baseball is returning this week, but most of us will ignore that too.

Two NFL players are hanging up their cleats, but they are each in very different situations, and the former Washington Redskins franchise still has a number of problems to sort out.

Then, we are taking a close look at the restart of the NBA season next week. We have a number of questions for how this will all work. What is the playoff format? How will the play-in tournament work? Who will the neutral court in Orlando favor the most? What is going to happen if someone tests positive? We do our best to answer these questions and many more.

Finally, we know that the finish to this season is going to be a little weird. Today our Daly Dose Top 5 counts down the Top 5 weirdest moments in NBA history!

Daly Dose 07-15-20 The biggest “What Ifs” in sports history Part 2

This week on the Daly Dose, we take a look back at a memorable NFL player that led a pretty amazing life.

The NFL releases some of their plans for the upcoming season, and the Washington Redskins confirm that they will be getting a new nickname. We examine what finally made them change.

The NBA is getting ready to restart their season down in Orlando, and we take a look at some of the early news taking place from inside the bubble.

Meanwhile, the Big 10 and Pac 12 announce they will only be playing conference games this football season. We talk about who could suffer the most from these changes.

Then, we are joined by a long time friend of the show to continue our conversation about some of the biggest “What Ifs” in the history of sports.

What if the Baltimore Colts refused to take John Elway? What if Joe Namath and the New York Jets had lost Super Bowl III? What if the New England Patriots never lose QB Drew Bledsoe to injury?

We even have a “What If” that may have changed the entire world!

Daly Dose 07-08-20 The biggest “what ifs” in sports history Part 1

This week on the Daly Dose, we talk about a wild 4th of July in the United States, and look back at an odd moment in sports history.

College football is discussing spring football, but we look at the obstacles with that idea, and the Pac 12 could be in for a major shakeup.

The Kansas City Chiefs give superstar quarterback Patrick Mahomes the biggest contract in NFL history, but there could be some drawbacks. Plus, the Washington Redskins could actually be changing their name, and we have a few nominations.

Then, we are joined by a longtime friend of the show to look back at some of the biggest moments in sports history, and wonder “what if they had gone differently?”

From MLB, to college hoops, the NBA, and the NFL, we are looking back at a number of ways things might have been different in the world of sports!

Daly Dose 06-17-20 The greatest teams that never were

This week on the Daly Dose, we discuss the importance of Father’s Day, and the way that fathers change our lives.

The 2020 Major League Baseball Draft took place last week, and we give it all the time it deserves, NASCAR makes some major policy changes concerning the Confederate flag, and we wonder how it will change races. The NBA has hit a few snags on their restart, and the Denver Broncos are fully embracing sports gambling!. Plus, the University of Southern California has now forgiven former Trojan superstar Reggie Bush, and we are hoping that his Heisman will soon be returned to its rightful owner soon too.

Then, we discuss the return of the NBA in July, and wonder which teams can step up in crunch time. We also look back in sports history that failed to step up at key times, and fell short despite all of their talent.

Finally, we discuss whether or not the league champions in the NBA, NHL or even MLB could have an asterisk* next to their names in the record books this year, and we count down five teams that DO have an asterisk next to their name already!

Finally, our Daly Dose Top 5 takes a look back at five other times that sports had to be put on hold, and we begin to wonder when they can return to us now! We also discuss what each of these events teach us about our situation today!

Daly Dose 05-06-20 Redrafting some historical NFL drafts

This week on the Daly Dose, a listener points out a spooky Dose prophecy from last fall, and the NFL is planning on releasing their 2020 schedule as usual. The Dallas Cowboys sign a backup quarterback, and it could bring some trouble, and a number of NFL teams are declining 5th year options. Do they have a plan going forward? We also reflect on the loss of NFL coach Don Shula, and the incredible legacy he left behind.

A new installment of ESPN’s The Last Dance featuring Michael Jordan came out on Sunday night, and we share some memories from that era, and some thoughts about the newest episodes. The NBA has some difficult decisions to make regarding the 2020 NBA season, and we wonder which direction they will go.

Plus, with all of the financial losses in sports lately, we have some very good news for a specific sports business.

Then, we take a look back at some historic NFL drafts from the past, and wonder what would happen if we could have a do-over. There are a number of shake ups, and history will be rewritten, when we use our 20/20 hindsight to correct a few errors!
