We look at some of the biggest overreactions that we are hearing, and try to sift through what is actually true.

After a very entertaining week in college football, we are trying to piece together what we have learned so far. The Oklahoma Sooners are looking strong, the Clemson Tigers just keep rolling, and Lamar Jackson wants to win another Heisman trophy at Louisville.

The 2017 Daly Dose NFL preview: The AFC South

AFC South

The AFC South is an odd mix of teams. While it may look at first glance, to be one of the weaker divisions in the NFL, there are some teams that are getting better here. The Texans have a very good defense. The Titans are young and talented. The Colts could be better if they have a healthy Andrew Luck. And the Jaguars would be vastly improved with a very unhealthy Blake Bortles.

1. Tennessee Titans

Predicted finish: 10-6

The Titans looked poised to step up last season, and make a push into the playoffs. Unfortunately, they started off the season slow, and were unable to earn a postseason berth. Can this young, talented group get off to a better start in 2017? Can QB Marcus Mariota stay healthy? Can the pass defense improve? Can we ever take a head coach named Mike Mularkey seriously?

2. Houston Texans

Predicted finish: 9-7

The Texans are hoping that just getting rid of Brock Osweiler is enough to make them better. With this defense, featuring both JJ Watt, and Jadeveon Clowney there is reason to be optimistic. Unfortunately,  unless they can play offensive line or quarterback the Texans are still going to be barely above average.

3. Indianapolis Colts

Predicted finish: 6-10

Andrew Luck is trying to return from shoulder surgery, but with the lack of a supporting cast to surround him, he may be better off just stalling. Luck needs to take his time and make sure that he is fully healthy, and the Colts are in a better position to protect him. So, he may be waiting three to four years.

4. Jacksonville Jaguars

Predicted: 3-13

QB Blake Bortles seems to be suffering from a case of the yips. His confidence is wavering, and even though he has been named the starter, you can see the doubt creeping into his play. It doesn’t help that he doesn’t have much help on the offensive line. Or that Vice President Tom Coughlin keeps yelling at him to stay off of his grass.

Andrew Luck’s shoulder announces it is not ready to play for the Colts yet

While the Indianapolis Colts are hoping that their starting quarterback Andrew Luck will be returning to action soon, there is someone very important that is not quite ready to play football just yet.

In January, Luck underwent surgery to repair a lingering issue in his throwing shoulder, and his status for the start of the season is still unknown. Yet, his right shoulder is more than a little nervous about rushing back to the field. Luck’s shoulder stated in an interview with the Daly Dose, that it is not looking forward to returning to the gridiron anytime soon.

“Are you crazy?” the shoulder asked. “Have you seen that offensive line? I am not ready to go out there, and get hit again, and again. I am 27 years old, and I am not ready to be replaced already. I have only been in this league for five years, and I have already been sacked over 150 times! I am pretty sure that the Colts are trying to kill Andrew. He might be too dumb to see it, but I’m not. I’ve had enough.”

On Sunday, without Luck in the lineup, the Colts offense struggled under backup quarterback Scott Tolzien. Indianapolis managed just 27 yards, in three drives, with Tolzien at the helm.

Colts management is hopeful that Luck will be returning prior to the start of the regular season, stating that his rehabilitation is going well, and his strength is better than ever.

Luck’s right shoulder disagrees. “I don’t care about lifting weights.” it stated. “That doesn’t mean a thing. You think I care about bench pressing when a defensive lineman lands on me? Nope. Ask Andrew’s spleen what lifting weights did for him. Get out of here with that nonsense.”

Daly Dose #141 The greatest QBs in NFL history

This week on the Dose, we are remembering some of the greatest quarterbacks to ever play in the National Football League! Clint is joined by longtime friend of the show Mike from Castle Rock, and they debate the greatest quarterbacks to ever play for each NFL franchise.

We all know that the NFL has had memorable greats like Tom BradyJoe MontanaTerry Bradshaw, and Johnny Unitas, but who was the greatest signal-caller in the history of the Cleveland Browns, the Oakland Raiders, or the New York Jets?

Are Bradshaw and Unitas even the best quarterbacks from their own franchise? And how do we go about comparing different eras effectively?

Beginning in the AFC, we are remembering some of the best passers in league history, and probably even a few players that you may have forgotten!
