Daly Dose 08-20-18 NFL injuries and White House selfies

Monday on the Daly Dose, we are looking at what we learned from the weekend in sports!

We remember a position in sports that is slowly fading away, and a Major League Baseball team learned that they may not be getting a late season lift.

As the NFL preseason begins to get more competitive, we are already beginning to see more injuries, but one team is getting a player back, and Denver Broncos fans made a business decision.

In college football, we learned about some selfies taken at the White House, and we update a few of the quarterback battles that are finishing up prior to the season.

Finally, we learn that you don’t have to hit a hole-in-one in order to have a good day on the golf course!

John Daly thinks Tiger Woods might have a problem

As pro golfer Tiger Woods was arrested on a DUI charge early Monday morning, the sports world marveled at how far the superstar has fallen.

The former great was busted Monday around 3 a.m. in Jupiter, Florida, and released later on his own recognizance. Woods is now 41, and has fallen completely off the map in the golfing world. His career has been marred by injuries, a sex scandal, and poor play.

Now, there are many in the sports world that are beginning to offer some life advice.

Pro golfer John Daly feels like Tiger might have some vices he needs to deal with. “That dude is crazy, man. I like ole Tiger man, but that dude might have a problem. He chases all the women, drinks all the beer, he’s a fun guy to hang out with, but I just have take a break sometimes, man.” Daly stated. “Don’t get me wrong. I like to party. I’m on my way to a party right now and it’s 9 a.m. There’s gonna be a donkey, and a stripper on a trapeze, but I can’t keep up with Tiger. That dude might need some reflection, man. I hope he’s out in time to come to the party. Maybe I can be a mentor to that dude.”

Daly Doses: Thoughts, reflections, and derision from the Mile High City!

Doses

  • You just completed your final weekend without either major college or professional football for the year.
  • Say “hello” to not getting anything done on the weekends until spring.
  • We get some really good college football games already this first weekend. TCU vs Minnesota, Washington vs. Boise State, Louisville vs. Auburn, Arizona State vs. Texas A&M, and Wisconsin vs. Alabama are a pretty good slate for the Week 1.
  • There seem to be three or four major college football stories to follow this season.
  • Can Ohio State repeat as National Champions?
  • Can Jim Harbaugh return Michigan to dominance?
  • Can the SEC return to it’s traditional spot atop the college football world by winning another National Championship?
  • Can we combine the rosters of Colorado, Colorado State, and Air Force to make one team that could even get ranked?
  • Okay, that last one might not be on the national radar.
  • Probably just mine.
  • A week after trying to get Robert Griffin III killed, the Washington Redskins have announced that he will be benched for the always average Kirk Cousins.
  • When Griffin’s head clears he’s going to be really mad.
  • Did you see American golfer Brian Harman made not one but two holes-in-one in his final round at The Barclays, which was won by Jason Day?
  • Harman finished 30th in the final standings.
  • He may never be one of the great players of all time but you can’t take those two plays away from him.
  • He’s like Eli Manning.
  • Do you know how hard it is to play quarterback in the NFL?
  • Matt Cassel, Kellen Clemens, and Matt Schaub all still have jobs.
  • You barely have to do anything productive and if you can do even a mediocre job you have job security.
  • There aren’t many jobs like that.
  • Maybe a meteorologist.
  • Or a politician.
