NBA Preview: The Southeast Division preview

Eastern Conference

Southeast Division

(Predicted order of finish)

NBA Southeast

1. Atlanta Hawks

Sure, the Hawks lost Al Horford and Jeff Teague, but they did pick up big man Dwight Howard. So there goes all of that team chemistry and general likeability.

2. Washington Wizards

The Wizards had two goals this offseason: sign Kevin Durant and/or sign Al Horford. They struck out on both of those, but they did get rid of head coach Randy Wittman. So that’s a positive. Besides, people in Washington are used to ruined expectations.

3. Orlando Magic

The Magic went out in the offseason and made some very solid moves. They hired new head coach Frank Vogel, a no nonsense coach that has playoff experience.  And they brought in some good talent in Serge Ibaka, Bismack Biyombo, and Jodie Meeks. So who is going to get the blame if this group can’t show some improvement and reach the playoffs? Probably Dwight Howard.

4. Miami Heat

Remember when the Heat had LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, and Chris Bosh and we’re planning on winning 6…7…or 8 championships? Now all three of those players are gone. Along with most of the people who claimed to be Heat fans.

5. Charlotte Hornets

Sometimes I dreamed, that he was me

You’ve got to see that’s how I dreamed to be

But then I saw him run a team

Like Mike, I no longer want to be like Mike
