CFB Playoff Committee: “Champ games are a must unless your name is Ohio State”

The College Football Playoff Selection Committee raised some eyebrows this week, when it announced that it may look overlook Ohio State not participating in the Big 10 Conference Championship game.

Since its inception, the committee has been steadfast in holding to the same criteria, as laid out on their website.

They have made it clear that above all else, they value conference championships. After that comes strength of schedule and head-to-head competition.

But on Monday, Chairman Kirby Hocutt completely changed his tune.

“Look, we have always said that we value conference championships, but this is a very unique situation that we have unfolding this season.” Hocutt told the Daly Dose.

The Buckeyes are currently ranked No. 2 and after a victory over No. 3 Michigan on Saturday, that doesn’t appear to be changing any time soon.

But Ohio State lost to Penn State back in October, and as a result it will be the Nittany Lions facing Wisconsin in the Big 10 Championship game on Saturday in Indianapolis.

Is this sudden flip the result of Ohio State being a big name and perennial favorite?

“Well duh!” said Hocutt. “You think we’d be doing this for Western Michigan?”

Tony Romo injured while proclaiming that he is healthy

The Dallas Cowboys escaped with an amazing 35-30 comeback victory on Sunday, but it seems quarterback Tony Romo could be injured again.

romo2212

On Monday, when asked if he was healthy enough to return in a backup role, Romo gave an excited “Yes!” and slipped a disc in his already fragile back.

Romo has yet to play a snap this season, after breaking a bone in his back in the third preseason game of the season against the San Francisco 49ers.

Rookie backup Dak Prescott has played very well in Romo’s absence, leading the Cowboys to an impressive 8-1 record, while throwing 12 touchdowns with just two interceptions.

Yet there has been talk, that perhaps when healthy, Romo would return to the field and reassume his starting duties.

Monday’s injury will put those talks on indefinite hold.

Romo has missed over 30 games due to injury over the past seven seasons, and his age makes it unlikely that he will ever return to form.

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones, who has also named himself general manager, offensive coordinator, and team doctor has officially listed Romo as questionable for Sunday’s game against the Baltimore Ravens.

Cubs fans get another bag full of rocks for Halloween

Chicago Cubs fans were hoping this year would finally be different.

They put on their costumes just like they have every season since 1908.

But they thought this year, they might actually come home with some candy.

Yet for some reason that is completely unknown, while other trick or treaters had their bags filled with all kinds of candy and treats, Cubs fans received nothing but rocks.

House after house, it was the same old thing that has been tormenting Cubbies fans for years.

“I got five pieces of candy! said Dodgers fans.

“I got a chocolate bar!” said Indians fans.

“I got a package of gum!” said Cardinals fans.

But just like clockwork, even in their most hopeful of Halloween nights, Cubs fans were left saying the same thing that they have said house after house and year after year.

“I got a rock.”

Their misery didn’t end there.

This morning, this reporter encountered a number of Cubs fans that had fallen asleep outside with their bag of rocks, while waiting once again for the Great Pumpkin.

“It’s okay.” I encouraged them. “I have done some stupid things in my life too.”

“STUPID?” they screamed. “What do you mean “stupid”? Just wait till next year! You’ll see! Next year at this same time, we’ll find a pumpkin patch that is *real* sincere and we’ll sit in that pumpkin patch until the Great Pumpkin appears. He’ll rise out of that pumpkin patch and he’ll fly through the air with his bag of toys. The Great Pumpkin will appear and We’ll be waiting for him! We’ll be there! We’ll be sitting there in that pumpkin patch… and we’ll see the Great Pumpkin. Just wait and see!. We’ll see that Great Pumpkin. We’ll SEE the Great Pumpkin! Just you wait! The Great Pumpkin will appear, and we’ll be waiting for him!”
