Our next NFL preview takes a brief look at the black and blue division…the NFC North.
A division that deals with some of the most physical play, and some of the toughest outdoor elements that the league has to offer.
Well, when they aren’t playing in their cushy 72 degree indoor stadium complexes.
Just like the old time founding fathers of football intended.
1. Green Bay Packers
Predicted finish: 11-5
The Packers do get WR Jordy Nelson back from a season ending knee injury last year, but the Pack run defense has to improve. And we saw last year that QB Aaron Rodgers can’t win enough games by himself. But Rodgers believes that the Packers can contend for the Super Bowl this year. Of course he also believes he saw aliens, so this is all kind of subjective.
2. Minnesota Vikings
Predicted finish: 9-7
To be completely honest, we liked Minnesota to win this division until Teddy Bridgewater’s knee crumbled like Blair Walsh in a playoff game. But we think the Vikings can still be competitive. Head coach Mike Zimmer built this team to be bigger than just one player. Well…except for Walsh…obviously.
3. Chicago Bears
Predicted finish: 8-8
The Bears showed signs of improvement under John Fox and QB Jay Cutler even cut down on the turnovers without many viable targets to throw to. But this is a contract year for Jay, and we’re betting that that when the pressure is on he will show his true colors, which usually means throwing the football to the team wearing the opposite color that he is wearing.
4. Detroit Lions
Predicted finish: 7-9
The Lions started 2015 1-6 before winning six of their final eight games. So which team is the real Detroit Lions? If history is any indicator, probably the crappy one.
