We now shift our attention to the AFC North.
We can all remember the recent titles won by the Baltimore Ravens.
And the Pittsburgh Steelers are one of the most storied franchises in sports history.
But who can recall a playoff win by the Cincinnati Bengals, or any type of success by the Cleveland Browns?
Probably no one.
1. Cincinnati Bengals
Predicted finish: 10-6
The Bengals have a ton of talent but always seem to find a way to come up short under head coach Marvin Lewis. So they will rack up double digits wins and get hopes up with all of their talent, and then lose in the first round of the playoffs. But take heart Bengals fans, Marvin Lewis will probably be resigned to another huge contract extension afterward.
2. Baltimore Ravens
Predicted finish: 9-7
The Ravens hit rock bottom in 2015, going 5-11 after being depleted by injuries. But they should be back in the playoff hunt if they can stay healthy this year. They just need 33 year old Terrell Suggs and 37 year old Steve Smith to return 100% from torn Achilles injuries. Or maybe they should just wish for a leprechaun to ride a unicorn right into M&T Bank Stadium and deliver the Super Bowl trophy to them. The odds seem to be about the same.
3. Pittsburgh Steelers
Predicted finish: 8-8
We know that the Steelers offense is going to be one of the best in the NFL, but we also know that it is a matter of time before QB Ben Roethlisberger gets hurt and has to sit a few games. When he’s out, head coach and member of the NFL competition committee that works to maintain fairness in games, Mike Tomlin can trip up a kick returner. Or maybe one of his assistant coaches can start a fight, and the Steelers can find a way to earn a win without Big Ben. Hey, fairs fair.
4. Cleveland Browns
Predicted finish: 3-13
After striking out in free agency the Browns have a number of holes throughout their roster. But they did manage to grab QB Robert Griffin III and are confident that he can improve their offense under head coach Hue Jackson. At least until Griffin gets hurt by Week 3, because he still hasn’t learned how to slide properly.
