The Daly Dose NFL AFC East Preview

We begin our look at each team in the NFL with the AFC East. It is a division full of history and tradition. It is a collection of teams that have a history of winning.

Unfortunately, only one of the teams has actually done any winning in recent history.

And that probably won’t be changing this year.

AFC East

1. New England Patriots

Predicted finish: 11-5

The Patriots are the class of this division even without QB Tom Brady, who will be serving a suspension in the first four games. But when he gets back, the NFL had better look out because he’s going to be really mad. Just like he was mad last year. Until he got hit 75 times in the AFC Championship game. I guess he wasn’t as mad then.

2. New York Jets

Predicted finish: 9-7

The Jets finished 10-6 last year, narrowly missing the playoffs, but the schedule is a little more difficult in 2016. And as a big thank you to QB Ryan Fitzpatrick, who threw 31 TDs last season, New York held out from resigning him to a new contract for as long as they could. But not even the Jets are dumb enough to try to go into the season with Geno Smith as their starter.

3. Miami Dolphins

Predicted finish: 7-9

We keep hearing that this will the year that QB Ryan Tannehill finally steps up and becomes a QB that can lead Miami to the playoffs. But after four full seasons and a 29-35 record, I think we all know how this is going to end. But never fear Miami fans, you can still hang your hat on that undefeated team from nearly 50 years ago. That never gets old.

4. Buffalo Bills

Predicted finish: 6-10

After proclaiming that the Bills had “won the offseason” back in June, head coach Rex Ryan has lost top draft pick Shaq Lawson (injury), 2nd round pick Reggie Ragland (injury), Percy Harvin  (retired), IK Enempali (injury), Karlos Williams (cut), and Marcell Dareus for the first four games for missing a drug test. So the Bills may struggle this season, and Ryan will probably get fired,  but at least he won that demanding offseason.
