We now take a look at the NFC South that consistently gives us one of the worst teams to make the playoffs every year. Which 9-7 or 8-8 team will it be this season? The Daly Dose Pro Football Preview will lay it out.
New Orleans Saints
|10-6||As long as the Saints have Drew Brees they will have a shot. He led New Orleans to the #1 offense in total yardage in 2014. Brees should be able to get the Saints to bounce back from their disappointing 7-9 season and missing the playoffs in 2014. Of course, they still have a pretty awful defense so don’t go expecting miracles out of the guy.|
|Atlanta Falcons||9-7||Do you realize that the Falcons were a possession away from going to the Super Bowl just three seasons ago? In the 2012 NFC Championship game Atlanta led the San Francisco 49ers 17-0 in the 2nd quarter. I’m not sure the Falcons defense has forced a punt since.|
|Carolina Panthers||7-9||Carolina has a good defense and it’s a good thing because with wide receiver Kelvin Benjamin out for the season with a knee injury they will be on the field a lot as Cam Newton’s passes sail over his remaining receiver’s heads.|
|Tampa Bay Buccaneers||5-11||The Buccaneers drafted Florida State QB Jameis Winston with the first overall pick of the 2015 NFL Draft and the Bucs have some talent to put around him. Doug Martin is a solid running back and Vincent Jackson and Mike Evans give him big targets downfield. Of course Tampa Bay’s offensive line is one of the worst in the league so Jameis can expect to get manhandled quite a bit by opposing defenses. Which is kind of ironic when you think about it.|
