Daly Doses: Thoughts, reflections, and derision from the Mile High City!

Doses

  • You just completed your final weekend without either major college or professional football for the year.
  • Say “hello” to not getting anything done on the weekends until spring.
  • We get some really good college football games already this first weekend. TCU vs Minnesota, Washington vs. Boise State, Louisville vs. Auburn, Arizona State vs. Texas A&M, and Wisconsin vs. Alabama are a pretty good slate for the Week 1.
  • There seem to be three or four major college football stories to follow this season.
  • Can Ohio State repeat as National Champions?
  • Can Jim Harbaugh return Michigan to dominance?
  • Can the SEC return to it’s traditional spot atop the college football world by winning another National Championship?
  • Can we combine the rosters of Colorado, Colorado State, and Air Force to make one team that could even get ranked?
  • Okay, that last one might not be on the national radar.
  • Probably just mine.
  • A week after trying to get Robert Griffin III killed, the Washington Redskins have announced that he will be benched for the always average Kirk Cousins.
  • When Griffin’s head clears he’s going to be really mad.
  • Did you see American golfer Brian Harman made not one but two holes-in-one in his final round at The Barclays, which was won by Jason Day?
  • Harman finished 30th in the final standings.
  • He may never be one of the great players of all time but you can’t take those two plays away from him.
  • He’s like Eli Manning.
  • Do you know how hard it is to play quarterback in the NFL?
  • Matt Cassel, Kellen Clemens, and Matt Schaub all still have jobs.
  • You barely have to do anything productive and if you can do even a mediocre job you have job security.
  • There aren’t many jobs like that.
  • Maybe a meteorologist.
  • Or a politician.
