It should come as no surprise that Oklahoma City Thunder point guard Russell Westbrook is petitioning the NBA to rescind a win that is keeping the Thunder out of the playoffs. He has had success before with this process in the past.
On Monday the league rescinded an important technical foul for Westbrook. It was his 16th technical and would have meant an automatic mandatory suspension for Westbrook in an important game against the Portland Trail Blazers. The NBA erased the foul and Westbrook scored 36 in a 101-90 victory that kept the Thunder’s playoff chances alive.
But on the final night of the regular season the New Orleans Pelicans shocked the basketball world by defeating the San Antonio Spurs and eliminating Oklahoma City from the postseason.
“I just figured it worked once so why not try it again?” Westbrook lamented. “It isn’t like the NBA is above fixing things.”
